New mythological creature discovered last weekend!

In the interests of science, I shall take it upon myself in this and subsequent postings to inform all of my lovely readers about the latest discovery: Peerl.

Peerl was a mythical winged artichoke born to a mother (Pertilote) of the standard artichoke variety who was ravaged by a minor deity (Asumma) who temporarily took the form of a tomato in order to rape the lovely virgin Pertilote in secret, the union being condemned by Asumma's father, Zaccha. The resulting creature, Peerl, was red in color and unusually large for an artichoke. Early in life, Peerl was captured by one Del Monte and pickled forthwith.

Stay tuned for future installments concerning the fascinating life of Peerl.

I certainly hope this story does not involve a balustrade.
